ABOUT THE PROCEDURE

Dr. Hoefflin performs Fraxel® laser skin resurfacing in his professional offices, using topical anesthetics and oral sedation only. This obviates the need for the operating room or anesthesiologist, making it a very safe procedure. The procedure usually takes 30-60 minutes, depending upon the desired cosmetic result.

When more aggressive treatments are desired, or if performed in combination with other facial rejuvenation procedures, then procedures are performed in the operating room under local anesthesia with monitored sedation, as administered by a board-certified anesthesiologist.

ABOUT YOUR RECOVERY

Patients are discharged home with light topical ointments only. Slight to moderate swelling and redness usually subsides after three to five days. Head elevation is encouraged for the first few days to minimize any swelling. Patients are placed on Dr. Hoefflin's Post-Laser Skin Resurfacing protocol to minimize any swelling or discomfort and speed the recovery process. Makeup can be applied 3-5 days after surgery to coverup any residual redness.

Our patients are surprisingly free of discomfort due to the long-acting local anesthetic injections, nerve blocks, and topical ointments. Pain after this procedure is unusual. Most patients tell us they feel much better than expected following their procedure.

Patients are able to return to work and other social events within three to five days following their procedure. Light exercise can be resumed after several weeks and an unrestricted return to all activities within six weeks. Patients are usually very satisfied with the results of their Beverly Hills Fraxel laser.

Most complications are minor, temporary, and can be easily resolved with conservative treatment and time.
